The Channeled Scablands Controversy
Gösta Lindwall, March 20, 2020
A cataclysmic event around 12,800 years ago has been attributed to wiping out and ancient civilization. Graham Hancock refers to such an event in his book “Magicians of the Gods”.
Geologist and catastrophist Randall Carlson sees the area called the “Channeled Scablands” as possible evidence for a cataclysmic megaflood at the time Hancock suggests.
What caused the formation of Scablands has been a debated since the 1920s, when geologist J Harlen Bretz wrote a series of papers about the area that forms an enormous scar in the landscape.
In the 1970s the main scientific explanation was a burst of a barrier in a large Ice lake on the glacier sheet. After the analysis of the ”black mat layer” (Younger Dryas Boundary Layer), in 2007, more facts are supporting a theory of a cosmic impact.
